Got in a BIF from oline73. 750 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours nearly opaque dark brown color with a 3 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big cherry, lemon, raisin, pineapple, plum, green apple, licorice, chilies, peppercorn, hay, straw, musty funk, oak, leather, chocolate, cocoa, toasted dark bread, light red wine vinegar, and yeast/toasted oak earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/funky/spicy yeast, peppers, dark/roasted malt, and oak notes; with great strength. Taste of big cherry, lemon, raisin, pineapple, plum, green apple, licorice, chilies, peppercorn, hay, straw, musty funk, oak, leather, chocolate, cocoa, toasted dark bread, light red wine vinegar, and yeast/toasted oak earthiness. Moderate yeast spiciness and light tart/tannic notes on the finish; with lingering flavors of cherry, lemon, raisin, pineapple, plum, green apple, licorice, chilies, peppercorn, hay, straw, musty funk, oak, leather, chocolate, cocoa, toasted dark bread, yeast/toasted oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/spicy yeast, peppers, dark/roasted malt, and oak flavors; with a great malt/tart/spiciness balance, and zero astringent flavors after the finish. Minimal dryness from carbonation and tart/spiciness. High carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, creamy, and lightly acidic/tannic/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very nice dark Brett saison. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/spicy yeast, peppers, dark/roasted malt, and oak flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the big ABV. Even though this is brewed with chili peppers, there is no associated heat; and it blends very well with the farmhouse character. A very enjoyable offering.

Exploding trunk beer at RBSG Pgh. Clear maroon color. Aroma of coffee with an edge of sourness. Taste is lightly tart roast. Nice.
