Our 11th stop on this Jersey beer journey takes us to Bergen County. We are excited to present the first lager brewed at our new facility, a Baltic Porter. This exceptionally complex beer starts with notes of rich chocolate and toffee on the nose with an initial sweetness on the tongue. The finish follows up with satisfying roast and licorice flavors. Hops are secondary in this beer, providing a bit of bitterness and spiciness. Pair with roasted meats, chocolatey desserts or earthy cheeses like Fontina.

Bomber poured into tulip glass, opaque dark brown. Full body. Licorice and chocolate aroma. Boozy licorice taste, bittersweet finish. Definitely worth drinking this again.

Bottle. Pours opaque dark brown with large spongy beige head, mocha aroma with underlying alcohol, adequate carbonation, mildly bitter dark chocolate taste with alcohol undertones and a bit of licorice, smooth body, long finish. Smooth and tasty, with well covered alcohol content.

Woody charred oak nose, raisin accents. Mahogany, thick tan head, good lace. Charred oak, raisin and elderberry. Medium body, easy carbonation, warm. More of a berry presence than I expected, but good.

Bottle RBSG 2016. Did Jstax bring this? No it was Gene the travlr. Thanks Gene! Leather aroma. Darker root beer color. Some co2. I think I detect some smoked attributes in there. Quite boozy. Not really sure if this rises to the occasion of a baltic. Probably more like a heavy regular porter.

reddish brown color small head. smells like milk chocolate with cold brew coffee but both aromas are very faint. nice body, oily, sweet and dense. comes on hard with a light cocoa and mars bar flavor. reminds me of those caramel / chocolate bars a lot and finish is slight bitterness that flees quickly.

Bottle at the July DC tasting. Poured a dark brown color. Aroma was like what you’d expect from a Baltic Porter. Roasted malts, light crisp notes. Sweet caramel. Roasted notes.

Bottle at RBSG Grand Tasting. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is roast and toffee. Thick, chewy, roast, cocoa, light dry finish, good.

Light roast but there’s way too much booze here. Sends things in imbalance. Black pour with good head and lacing. Not bad but not huge.
