The first and only one. In 1901, Maxim Ale was first introduced to the North East. Following an increase in strength in 1938, it became known as Double Maxim. This premium quality ale is still famous among discerning drinkers for its well-rounded flavour.

Cask at Moon Under Water, Wolverhampton Pours the classic “bitter brown” colour, with a good cream head. The aroma is mainly malts, but with some nuttiness. In the mouth toffee predominates, mixed with dark fruits to give an overall sweetness. Finish is creamy, with some hops appearing at last. A straightforward brown ale – but a quality one that is a pleasure to drink.
