Michael Jackson describes “Berlin White Beer” as having an “insistent sparkle, a fragrant fruitiness in the nose, a sharp, dry palate, and a frisson of quenching, sour acidity in the finish.”

North Coast Tart Cherry Berliner Weisse is made with the juice of Michigan Montmorency cherries, whose addition softens the lactic finish of the beer and gives it a springtime blush.

On draft at Tap 25. It pours a clear, rose color with a small pinkish head. The aroma is strong with sweet cherry juice and a touch of cherry syrup. Light notes of wheat. The flavor is pretty much all sweet cherries. Cherry pie filling with only light tartness thats inherent with the nature of the fruit. Not picking up any lacto. This was ok as a fruit beer, but since I was expecting a berliner, I was disappointed. Not necessarily a bad beer.

On tap at Bottleworks, pours a clear pink with a small white head. Aroma brings out tart cherries, some lacto and a little wheat. Flavour has a lot of lacto, with faded cherries and wheat. Not the most complex Berliner, but it works. The cherries are nicely situated. Solid.

Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours rather cherry colored with a creamy near-white head. Aroma is mildly tart cherry. Near med body. Flavor is mildly tart cherry, maybe some detectable wheat. Not so much sour as lightly tart. Very nice to drink.
