Bottle @ LIBF’16. Shared with the RB Belgian team.

Swedish ’impy’ with pale yellowish beige, dense, lacing head and black robe. Pleasant and rich bouquet of cured meat, stewed beef, leather, coffee grounds, bitter chocolate, toffee, nuts. Sweetish and sourish onset, meaty umami accents, soft carbo, thick creamy body, deep toasted and chocolatey malts, softly and not too coffeeish but nevertheless roasted bitter ending with warming, brandy-like alcohol. Well done.

Fast gone rusty-brown head over virtually black beer. Coffee, tobacco ash. Some chocolate and lots of roast. Roast/burnt, black breadcrust, hint at both dark bread as to hops. Quite well-bodied, very slick, oily. Aftertaste lacks some lustre (lame pun intended). Certainly better than average.
