Think of this as a fresher, hoppier Hefeweizen: smooth, cloudy, and golden-colored. This style dates back to the Middle Ages, where the beer was matured in deep vaults and emerged rich in vitamins.

Keg at Beer Run. Hazy yellow, large foamy white head, good retention. Aroma of bready malt, yeast, hay. The taste is stone fruit, bread, yeast. Medium bodied.

Draft at the STL airport fauxpub. So this is supposed to be a Zwickel, fooled me. Sweet, bubblegum, raspberry tea hefe beer. Frankly, this would be an improvement on their regular hefe. Otherwise, I guess this is what a Schlafly "zwickel" would taste like. At least it looks unfiltered.

Feet, overripe lemon aroma. Cloudy golden, medium head. Overripe lemon, dough. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Enjoyable, I would like to see more of this style available.

Bottle: Slightly hazed gold with a frothy white head. Light grain aroma, fruit. Taste is sweet, grain malt, soft citrus. Very, very pleasant to drink. I really enjoyed this one...I could drink it everyday.

Pour is a hazy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is a nice rich blonde lager malt with a decent pre baked wet doughy bread. Flavor is again very bready and doughy with a very soft mouth feel. Finish is very clean and refreshing. Need to do a side by side with this zwickel and Urban Chestnut’s. A well made refreshing lager and I wish they would have had this come out sooner during the summer months..
