Rich, smooth, complex chocolate flavors in this oatmeal stout are created from high-grade baker's cocoa and Belgian chocolate malt. These great flavors are complimented with a substantial amount of memorable, sweet cherry character, making this one great beer!

Smells and tastes like cherry liquor pralines.

Can (that has been in the downstairs fridge for a while...) Pours a dark brown with a thin fizzy head. Kind of thin looking. Aromas of... whelp... cherries. Lol. That's about it. They cover everything! Kind of a maraschino cherry sweet and bright aroma. Flavor is that, with a bit of vanilla and maybe a bit of chocolate but mostly just overwhelming cherries that border on medicinal at times, but then are sort of pleasant at other times. I normally find HF's beers to be well balanced and lovely... this one is a cherry bomb that comes off as a bit abrasive.

Keg from Shakespeare Sheffield. Off black colour with a tan head. Aroma and taste are sweet cherry and then light chocolate. Slight cocoa. Smooth body. Not too heavy.

Black with a medium sized foamy brown head. Chocolate and strong cherry cough syrup. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Really disappointing.

Bottled 650ml (Beergium)
Dark brown colour, small beige head. Strong aroma of cherry and marzipan. Medium-bodied. Sweetish - chocolate, cocoa, cherry and marzipan in the flavour. Smooth and chocolaty but too much cherry to be in balance.

Keg at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell, London. A black coloured pour with a small beige head on top. Sweet, chocolate, cherry, marzipan taste/aroma. Certainly not the best beer from Hoppin Frog but it is drinkable enough.

650ml bottle. Jet black colour with small, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige to tan head. Sweet-ish fruity aroma, notes of sweet cherries, widely disguised, chocolately, dark malty background, hints of almond, marzipan, kirschwasser, Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte. Taste is slightly dry, chocolately dark malty and sweet-ish fruity, notes of dark chocolate, Belgian chocolate, sweet cherries, some almond, marzipan, a touch of pistachio. Minimally viscous texture, smooth, soft, silky and minmally cloying palate, soft and gentle carbonation. Not free from artifical aspects on the fruity side, but tasty and underrated IMO.

Can. (Thanks Eddan) Black with a small tan head. Chemical and with quite a lot of almonds. Also cherries and some chocolate. Sweet and unbalanced. Not the best one from Hoppin Frog.
