Temerity: excessive confidence or boldness; audacity - an apt description as this Black Currant Mead is made from black currants honey and aged in our Utopian barrels for at least 6 months.
It is audaciously tart from the currants... just when you think you've had enough, it fades to a smooth buttery oak finish.

Pours dark red. Smell is full on, red fruits. Taste is full, red fruits, tad sharp, boozy. Red fruits, just a bit too sharp and boozy. Not bad, just not as good as the scent gave away.

Bottle sample at Moonlight Meadery, pours a deep dark purple with a small pink head. Nose brings out loads of tart red currants upfront, with loads of oak. Flavour is very oaky and bone dry, with tart red currants upfront, with loads of oak. Bone dry and complex. Very nice fruity and dry mead.

Bottle sample at Brookland Pint. Opaque purple color, edge bubbles, see pic please. Huge aroma of black currant and port wine. Taste is sweet berries, subtle cherry, subtle grape. Really interesting.

Red currant nose. Ruby red color. Intense cranberry flavor, very sour. Full body. Little mead character, but tasty nonetheless.
