4 oz pour on draft at The Public Option with DCLawyer. Impromptu stop on the way from 3 Stars to Atlas. Dark brownish black with light tan head. Aromas of cocoa, chocolate, light licorice. Tastes of chocolate, roast, caramel. Medium body with a dry finish.

Draft at the source. Dark brown color, beige head. Aroma of cocoa powder. Taste is light chocolate, light body. OK.

Sampled at the brew pub pours a dark brown with some tan head. Nose has some chocolate, some soil, bread, light coffee grounds, a little compost. Flavor has beefy with grains and grist, toast, brown sugar, coffee, a little mushroom. Medium bodied finish.

Some light roast and some barley. Pours dark brown with good head and lacing. tangy finish. The only weak beer I tried at Public Option, maybe needs some work. Tap at brewpub.
