Sour ale with Rhubarb and Lingonberry.

When Americans think of Sweden, two things stand out: Ikea and Swedish Fish. Part of a set of beers with Dugges, this sour ale brings the best of the fruity candy to liquid form.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 7/2/2017. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy medium golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big sour/tart/tangy lingonberry, cranberry, rhubarb, strawberry, fruit skin/seed, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, gummy bears, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light pepper/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of lingonberry, rhubarb, fruity/acidic yeast, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big sour/tart/tangy lingonberry, cranberry, rhubarb, strawberry, fruit skin/seed, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, gummy bears, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light pepper/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and light spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/sour lingonberry, cranberry, rhubarb, strawberry, fruit skin/seed, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, gummy bears, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light pepper/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of lingonberry, rhubarb, fruity/acidic yeast, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/sourness and tangy fruit balance; with no puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering tart/sourness and tangy fruit. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth and moderately grainy/acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is an excellent fruited kettle sour. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of lingonberry, rhubarb, fruity/acidic yeast, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/clean/refreshing to drink with the modestly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish; not overly lactic. Pretty gummy candy like for a sour as I hoped. Great balance of juicy/jammy fruit and Lacto complexity; with a nice pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity for the ABV. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp acidic drying. A very enjoyable offering, and impressive style example as expected. Held up very well for the age and ABV.

Good Berliner, tart and bright, with the sourness coming more from the lingonberries than yeast or lacto (or at least it seems that way). Starts with a splash of semisweet fruitiness, then quickly gains a strong berry tartness with a dry, yeasty backbone. Dies down a bit on the finish, with the rhubarb coming through slightly on clingy, sour fade. Ugly, but the texture’s spot-on and I can see putting a couple of these back on a sweltering Tennessee day.

Bottle thanks to Adam. Pours a cloudy copper gold with small white head that lasts. The aroma is pepper, dough, sour fruit, oak. Thin body, berry, wheat, cereal, dough, tart, very good.

Bottle into a snifter showing well filtered orange with no head. The nose shows very light notes of sweet oranges. The palate is light bodied and lightly carbonated. Flavors of citric orange and gummy bears. Highly tart but dry throughout.

11.2oz bottle. Really nice. Pronounced lacto sour tones. Massive flavor. Dry/sour lingonberry tone. The rhubarb really gives it some depth. Really solid, classic, clean sour tones. Refreshing.

Good sour beer, but can hardly discern the flavorings. Taste seems to have some salt and a bit of fruit in the finish.

Bottle. Pours a hazy amber gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of tart rhubarb with light sourness with some light wheat underlying. Flavor has lots of sour rhubarb with an acidic bite with a light wheat backbone.

Pours a clear, light golden-yellow, with minimal head. Sour aroma, with some basement dankness. Flavor is quite sour, with some rhubarb. Chemically aftertaste. Very sour, acidic finish.
