Manchmal da „bassts“ einfach – über alle Grenzen hinaus. Das haben sich auch die Braumeister Roland Kundmüller und Matt Cole (Fat Head’s Brewery) aus Cleveland/Ohio gedacht und beschlossen, gemeinsam ein fränkisch-amerikanisches Bier zu brauen. Eines, das reinhaut. Eines, das die Mundwinkel nach oben zieht!
Im Geruch zeigt der Hopfen schonmal schön was er kann: Grapefruit, Maracuja, Pinie - Aromen, die sich auch am Gaumen fortsetzen und von karamelligen Noten ergänzt werden. Überraschend schlank für eine Bierspezialität mit 9 Prozent Alkohol überzeugt das Weiherer / Fat Head’s Imperial IPA mit sanfter Kohlensäure und harmonisch kräftiger Bittere.

Glass at 24 uurs van Maastricht 2017: Amber beer, Aroma is hoppy, citrus, bitter, grapefruit. Taste is the same, bitter, very very nice.

Pours dark gold from the bottle and leaves a thin, frothy white head. Aroma is mostly a mango and caramel mix. Taste has a light fruity sweetness up front, turning progressively more bitter going into the finish. The finish also brings with it a clingy, bready feel — as though a bunch of soggy biscuits have just disintegrated in the brew. As such the body on this one is fairly thick. The alcohol remains well hidden, betrayed only by a light warmth at the end. The carbonation is mild. Overall, drinkable but far from being my favorite IPA.

Bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus and Thompson. A bit hazy orange color, medium to full sized off-white head that lasts for quite a while. Smell and taste malts, hops, old hops a bit, bitter, hop bitter, lightly sticky. Lingering bitter finish. Decent to medium body, firm carbonation. Ok.

Bottle @ benzai. Slightly hazy orange colour with a medium sized white head. Smells fruity, hops, sweet. Tastes sweet, malty, hops, fresh. Medium body, soft to medium body.

Bottle @ Cafe Abseits, Bamberg. Pours hazy Dark Golden with a White head. Sweet mandarin, pine and grapefruit. Quite Dusty overall. Realatively fresh hops so my guess is there is old hops involved. Bitter Dusty citrussy finish.

Euro-Flasche:Deep golden, a bit unclear, small persistent off-white foamy layer; pretty solid bitter-sweet nose of grapefruity and piney hops with citrussy traces, pale malt and cough-syrup detectable; solid sweet-bitter flavour, astonishingly light bodied for a beer of 9.0%, a bit fizzy and tart; lingering solid sweet-bitter finish with piney hops and cough syrup. Should be enjoyed at a rural franconian Bierkeller under a shady chestnut-tree...

Clear golden with a medium white head. Aroma had fruits from the hops. Flavor was not as sweet as feared for this style, but quite balanced with a solid amount of fruity hops still in good form. Finished bitter.

50cl bottle. Pours clear orange golden colour with a mid-sized most good lasting off-white head. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, mango and resinous hops. Taste of strong resinous hops, citrus, spruce, long bitter finish, good!

Pours a deep amber (almost copper) with a thin and frothy head. Aromas have quite a bit of fruit, some pear and mango seem to be the most dominant.
