Old Carlsberg Porter has an almost oily-fat filling and appears black with tight mocha colored foam. The taste is sweet with a hint of dry bitterness. The aroma is powerful with notes of licorice root, newly roasted coffee, bitter chocolate and warming alcohol.

Bottle. Black colour, big stable brown head. Sweet liquorice flavour with a nice alcohol warmth. Aftertaste is nice and bitter, but a bit short. Thick mouthfeel.

Bottle 33 cl. Hardly no aroma. Dark in color, small head that disappears fast. Taste is too roast/burned to my liking. Quite bitter aftertaste. Worst porter i have tasted so far

(Bottle 33 cl) Comes as "Gl. Carlsberg Porter". Pitch black beer with a brownish head. Incredibly spicy nose with lots of smoke. Very, very full-bodied with burned malts and an underlying sweetness. Sharp bitterness - both from malts and hops. A very solid brew to be enjoyed in small quantities. 020901 (Bottle 33 cl) As "Carls Porter" 5/3/5/2/10=2,5 281203

Creamy light brown mostly lasting head. Weak aroma, sour bitter taste. Average finish, a bit too lively carbonation for a stout. I was a bit disapointed about this beer. But it got another chance and this one scored a bit better in aroma and taste, so it went from 2,8 to 3,3.

Thanks go out to Madsberg for sending this one! This one is sitting here in front of me just as black as night and the huge tan head is slowly filling with holes, yet it refuses to die into the body of the beer. Big spider webs appear on the sides of the glass where the stickyness remains. It’s still quite cold, but already there is a nice chocolate and coffee aroma building from the meringue-like head. This beer has lots of body so you can work it slowly in your mouth. Very soft first impression, full and rich. Well balanced, not too sweet, not too bitter, but lots of smooth cocoa and coffee flavors with a long finish. You can take some time before you need to sip again with this. Nice indeed.

Deep black color, medium frothy brown head. Aroma of heavy roasted malts, licorice, some raisin, oatmeal. Sweet and bitter porter taste, roasted malts predominantly. Creamy but sharp mouthfeel. Slight alcohol burn.

Dark brown color; creamy head. Nice aroma of roasted malt. Strong caramel, liquorice and roasted malt character. Long and strong final. Powerful, not extraordinary.

Lots of licorice and roasted aromas. Creamy and sweet, but hoppy enough to be easy to drink.

A pitch black porter with an OK orange colored head - that vanishes a bit too fast. It has the aroma of smoked malt with hints of oak. It has a nice sweetnes and a very round taste of smoked malt that finishes of with a slight bitterness that lingers on the tongue. Definatly a good beer - great as a night cap.
