Poured from a 16 oz can dated August 12, 2025.
Aroma is malt forward with lots of caramel notes from the crystal malt along with some notes of honey, raisin and cherry. Medium light grapefruit pith and pine resin hoo notes. Light notes of alcohol.
Pours a fairly clear, amber color with auburn hues and a touch of brown and a medium large, thick, pillowy, tan head that recedes steadily to a small film that lingers. Fairly high amount of lacing and small legs.
Flavor is somewhat sweet with fairly strong notes of caramel and lighter notes of honey, raisin cherry and a slight nuttiness. Medium high bitterness and light alcohol notes. Moderately strong hop notes of grapefruit pith and dank, pine resin.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth.
Overall, a fine American Red Ale. It's certainly not a style I would reach for; in fact I have no idea how long it's been since I had one. But this is well balanced and a change of pace when one consistently drinks either lighter or darker malts.
