Sampled on draft this beer poured a murky red-brown color with a medium sized fluffy orange-tan head that lingered and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was faint with coconut, caramel and fruity hops. The flavor was toasted caramel, coconut, sweetish red wine, fruity hops and a touch of alcohol. Long caramel, coconut and fruity hop finish. Medium body, Ok.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 11/14/2015. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep ruby red/copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings around the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, bourbon, oak, raisin, plum, cherry, apple, light chocolate, herbal, grass, light pepper, and oak/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and bourbon barrels; with light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, bourbon, oak, raisin, plum, cherry, apple, light chocolate, herbal, grass, light pepper, and oak/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy bitterness and light bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, bourbon, oak, raisin, plum, cherry, apple, herbal, grass, and oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and bourbon barrels; with light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/silky, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice barrel aged imperial ESB style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and bourbon barrels; with light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Cask at Rustico Ballston. Poured a clear ruby caramel amber color with a foamy, small head. Aroma was some vanilla, light birch, butterscotch, sweet malt character. Flavor was light sweetness, touch of very mild alcohol notes. Smooth and pretty tasty actually. Not sure how much I could have of htis at once, but it was very nice to sip on in this cold weather we’re currently having.

Bottle: Cloudy, brown, with an off-white ring. Wood, dark fruit, caramel scent. Flavour is softly bourbon-tinted, caramel malt, oak, plum. Smooth and easy, with a little bit of pleasant heat.

On cask at CTH pours a cream soda brown with a ring of white head. Nose is... cream soda, some malt, some vanilla, rootbeer, caramel, butterscotch. Flavor is sweet with caramel, butterscotch and vanilla, malt. Finishes sweet with a bit of barrel.
