Can from Laurelwood Public House - PDX. Aroma is chewy bready malt, caramel, resinous hops, pine resin, soft tropical fruit. Flavour is medium sweet and bitter. Body is medium. Nice hop/malt ratio, good Red IPA!

12 oz can. Aroma is fresh citrus and tropical fruit mingling with caramel; normally caramel is a turnoff for me with IPAs, but here it seems welcome and inviting. Pours clear amber with a large beige lacy head with excellent retention. The taste is a definite letdown after that bodacious aroma, with the caramel malt completely dominating over the hop bill; it’s medium level bitter, but that caramel malt is too much. What seemed interesting in the aroma is too much in flavor. Mouthfeel is a bit thin and watery. I had some hopes for this. It’s not terrible, but I just wish I could live in the aroma for the rest of my days without having to taste it, so said Copernicus to the flaming radish god.

On tap at Laurelwood PDX, pours a hazy dark reddish orange with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out loads of resinous hops, caramel malts, and herbal notes. Flavour brings out loads pot-like herbal hops, a little caramel malt to back, and more skunky hops. Delicious balance, though the hops still overpower the body and finish. Excellent stuff.
