Draft at the source. Clear ruby amber color, tan head. Aroma of earthy fruit and caramel. Taste is bitter fruit. Decent.

Wow, not an IIPA as declared here on ratebeer. This rating assumes it is an IPA as posted where it was consumed. Called Count Hopula Red IPA on tap at Whole Foods, who knew? Pours a nice looking deep red-ish brown with tall sticky tan head that leaves behind clumpy lacing. The aroma is on the light side offering up roasted malts, pine hops, a touch of coffee as well as a bit of burnt maltiness. The taste is on the smooth side and sort of wort like as it is being served rather cold. Despite the coldness it has a nice rich roasted maltiness, pine hops and grapefruit and then seems to pick up more resiny hop bitterness to midway. As the finish nears I get just noticeable notes of chocolate malts and burnt malts. This is even and balanced and really easy drinking making it a pleasing roasty IPA variant.
