BOURBON BARREL AGED STOUT collaboration with GREAT NOTION
A supremely dense and creamy Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout conditioned on over 800 pounds of fresh grilled peaches.
The brewers at Fort George and Great Notion know a thing or two about stouts... and adding things to stouts. Between the two of us, we’ve added thousands of things to stout. But we’ve never added this many peaches.
Peaches and Creamation is brewed in the spirit of the most iconic summer desert imaginable - grilled peaches and cream. Deep, dark and densely creamy.
Blend of Imperial Stout aged for 20 & 24 months in Russell’s Reserve Bourbon, Basil Hayden Malted Rye & Willet Bourbon Barrels.
Conditioned on Fresh Grilled Oregon Peaches & Vanilla.

Draft at zwanze. Aroma is chocolaty, whiskey, hint of peach, vanilla. Pours black with a large tan head with excellent retention. Taste is sweet and savory with some bitterness around the edges. Flavors of booze, chocolate, light peach. Perfectly carbonated creamy mouthfeel. A little too sweet for me.

Poured from 355mL can. Near black with very minimal off white head. Woody roast, light creamy peach underlay, mild bourbon and vanilla, nicely balanced and smooth.

12oz during spontaneous mini-tasting @ Ryan's.
Aroma: American oak, bold, sweet, fruity.
Taste: along the same lines, probably a little bit too sweet, though. Brown sugars. Noticeable grilled peaches in aftertaste.
Overall: good one.

Can from Corti Bros. Pours dark brn/blk with a transient dark tan smear. Aroma of burnt/dark malt, bourbon and a bit of peach. Full bodied. Somewhat sticky. It is far from dry. Not very bitter. Flavor is bourbon, peaches, dark malt and a surprisingly light amount of heat. Also vanilla. Peaches struggle to the front, but succeed. A bit daunting at first, but it settles down to something quite pleasant with a bit of time.

On tap at Elizabeth Station, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma has rich roasted malt, plenty of bourbon, and maybe a hint of the peaches if I look for it. Flavour is extremely intense, with super syrupy peach juice, bourbon, dark sugars and some roast. Way too surupy—I assume that’s the peaches, but maybe it’s the base. Over the top sweet and sticky. Good but far from drinkable.

Draft at The Handlebar. Black pour, ring of beige head. Roasty aroma, fruity, boozy. Taste is sweet up front, roasty, notes of peach. Taste is sweet, roasty and boozy, light peach notes throughout. Velvety, creamy smooth. Subtle and complex at the same time.
