Enduring the War of 1812, Paul Shipman’s tavern and stagecoach transfer point known as Shipman’s Corners evolved with the addition of William Merritt’s second wharf in 1815. The town become the main milling site of the eastern Niagara Peninsula and grew into the vibrant city of St. Catherine’s we know and love today.

Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7.5 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7.5
This stout poured a deep black colour with a creamy, tan coloured head. Nice lacing. Scents include dark roast coffee, smoke, Melloids cough drops, caramel, a little ripe fruit and cocoa. First swig was smooth, creamy and a little bit thinner. Flavours of coffee, roasted malt, light hops and a little wood. Finish is smokey and burnt with light hop bitterness lingering.
