Bottle poured into pint glass. Aroma is cinnamon and sugar, orange, fruit. Appearance is hazy orange brown with trace sparkle, minimal, fleeting head and trace lacing. Taste is as aroma--sweet cinnamon and sugar with orange and fruit. Palate is medium bodied with somewhat thick, sticky texture, soft carbonation and soft to average carbonation with sweet finish. Overall, a light, sweet treat for the holidays. Not complex but OK.

This was sent to me for review last fall, and I’m finally getting around to it. Definitely not winter, but a shandy/radler seems like the proper ticket after working to refurbish a dresser. Except for the lack of the embossed Sam Adams signature on the bottle, label and date notch style are exactly like a Boston Beer. A definite citrus fruit smell under the cap. Pours an amber color and initially kicks up a lot of foamy head in my shaker glass. Those "winter spices" are first up on the tongue, and do give this a bit of wassail character. There’s a mild fruit tartness after that that seems "juicier," more the pomegranate, then a bit of orange. The mouthfeel is pretty thin, like one usually gets for a shandy. I think mixing one’s own with a "substantive" juice like a pulpy lemonade or OJ might help this style. But still, this is a project company that’s staking its claim to the shandy category, and I can’t fault them for trying to make a winter seasonal version.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a caramel-brown color with a huge creamy beige head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was tangy and sweet berries, pomegranate and citrus. The flavor was tangy and sweet sugar, honey, vague berries and a bit of cracker. Medium length tangy berry finish. Medium body. Decent.

12 ounce bottle from State Line. Pours a hazy chestnut with a large foamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of strong citrus, ginger, cinnamon. The taste is bright lemon, vanilla, cinnamon. Medium bodied, mild lingering spice.

Bottle. Cinnamon, clove, pomegranate and orange malt aroma. Dark yellow with large off-white head. Sweet strong cinnamon, pomegranate and orange malt flavor. Actually not bad but more like a mulled wine/gluehwein than a beer.

From a bottle. As far as shandies go, this brew is much less than expected. Not sweet nor tangy. Just a iced tea colored brew that smells pretty good and fruity but lacks that typical shandy feel. Needs a little more sweetness and a little more tartness. I don’t care for the spice thing in there either. Disappointing tho it does have decent carbonation.
