This winter, IBUs start accumulating like snow in Colorado with our new Accumulation White IPA . Brewing a white IPA was not only a way to salute the white beauty falling from the sky, but a direct revolt to the longstanding tradition of brewing dark beers for winter and winter seasonal beers. At least that’s what our rebellious brewer Grady Hull likes to claim as he shovels in plenty of new hop varietals and a bit of wheat for a smooth mouthfeel. Stack up a few cases of Accumulation White IPA to keep your long nights glowing blizzard white.
Admin Note: Brewed until 2021. Recipe changed to a hazy IPA in 2022.

Bottled, 0.355l. Clear straw color with small frothy white head and lively visible carbonation. Aroma of grainy malt, heavy piney and citric hops, coriander and tropical fruit. Taste starts with light sweet grainy malt, following by fresh citric acidity, spicy mouthfeel and heavy bitter finish. Full body, syrupy texture and fizzy natural carbonation. This one has got the real winter taste, but I prefer warmer frutier and thicker flavors...

From a 12 bottle shared in Avon NC. Pours a hazy pale gold with an off white head. Fruity hop nose. Flavors of citrus (lemon and grapefruit) with a hint of pine resin. Medium bodied, with high carbonation, and a bitter finish.

12 ounce bottle into signature globe glass, best before 2/2/2014. Pours fairly hazy bright golden amber color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big peach, pineapple, lemon zest, tangerine, grapefruit, floral, grass, wheat, pine, and floral earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/tropical hops with moderate malt balance; and great strength. Taste of big peach, pineapple, lemon zest, tangerine, grapefruit, floral, grass, pine, wheat, and floral earthiness. Moderate amount of pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of peach, pineapple, passion fruit, tangerine, grapefruit, floral, grass, and light pine on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and complexity of hop flavors; with a fair amount of malt balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent wheat IPA! All around great balance and complexity of citrus/tropical hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

New Belgium Accumulation Draft at BRGR in Prairie Village, Kansas. The pour is a hazed yellow gold small white head. The aroma is fresh citrus, some dry floral and a grass wheat in the back. The taste is a nice balance between the citrus floral hops and the grass and wheat. There is some spice yeast in the longish finish. The palate is light to medium bodied, soft carbonation with a dry spice and citrus hop finish. Nice enough.

12oz bottle pours with a clear thin gold body that supports a white head of foam. Just after pouring it the aroma had a peach fruitiness to it. Upon further inspection there’s malt sweetness, slight levels of fruity notes maybe apricot, peach and mango as well as some faint hoppier or tarter citrus like notes. The taste is similar with modest levels of dry apricot and peach fruitiness rolling quickly into some malt sweetness. To midway a bit of malts and a slightly wheat like grainy malt note surface just as it heads into a lemon to lime like bitter hop to tartness. Pretty nice and balanced and easy drinking with plenty of flavor.

12 oz bottle from a six pack bought at Super 1 in Rathdrum, ID. Aroma is grapefruit, floral, perfume, vanilla, earth, tropical fruit. Pours slightly hazy yellow with a large white head with great retention; decorative lace sheets the glass. Taste is citrusy, floral, earthy, tropical. Mouthfeel is creamy, body medium. Not bad, but I don’t associate white IPAs with wintertime just because the word "white" is in the title. It’s much more of a summertime style to me.
