Minnesota Trip Beer #196. Keg at the brewery, 5/12/16. Hazy amber, thin creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of toasted malts, rye, citrus. The taste is toasted malts, caramel, cherries, rye. Medium bodied.

12oz bottle. Thick, unfiltered orange-brown body. Creamy thin, glass lacing off-white head. Pleasant mouthfeel. Caramel tones of top of a clean, well made US Saison. Pretty enjoyable merging of flavors, the rye sort of mellows out the Saison yeast. Well made.

For the aroma, at first all I got was burnt sugar, toffee, bit of hops; next time around I did get a whiff of the saison musty funk. Flavor wasn’t bad with a rye fruity Saison stylishness. Some off notes in the finish tho.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear gold with an orange hue and a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of grass and a bit of dankness with a rye backbone and a hint of light fruits. Flavor is much more flora with light fruits and a strong rye backbone through the finish.

Winterfest 2013. Good yeast aroma and light spice. A saison on the dry side, with some very light rye sourness. I like to see Fulton trying some new things.
