Old World Pilsner

Dageraad has been brewing old world pilsners for over 900 years in a Bohemian mountain cave in Lake City, Burnaby. Dagerlaager is the culmination of centuries of tradition and toil. Fermented and lagered in traditional stainless steel tanks, the origins of this beer have nothing to do with excess brewing capacity from the recent widespread restaurant and pub closures. It is truly ancient, and worthy of your reverence.

A true crispy boi, with a herbal aroma of noble hops and a firm base of subtly nutty German pilsner malt, Dagerlaager is the Dageraad beer you thought you’d never taste.

On tap at Dageraad. Pours clear blonde with a white head. Crisp dry grass and cracker malts on the nose. Flavour has crisp cracker malts, lots of dry grassy hops, a gentle dustiness. High carbonation. Nice, clean pilsner. --- Beer merged from original tick of Old World Pilsner on 11 Jul 2024 at 03:38 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Original review text: Flight at brewery. Pours clear light yellow with white head. Aroma is herbal with some crisp light malts. Flavour has some grass, dominated by damp, light malt. Enjoyable, but nothing too special.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Hazy blond colour. Delicate aroma of white bread; I may have caught a light spicy note initially, quickly gone. I'm not fully convinced by the malt base, it's good, crisp and bready in the front, it tends to get weaker then; moderate bitterness, not much hop bite, but there is enough balance.
I feel as if I like it more as I keep drinking it. Pleasant.

Pale yellow, slight haze. No head. The aroma is mostly pale malt - a bit bready but also a bit sticky. On the palate, the malts are fairly sweet. There's definitely some herbal hops to balance it out, but it's certainly more of a low country pilsner in the sweetness. Might be a bit difficult to drink in quantity for me because of that.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a semi-hazy blonde with a small a small white head. Aroma is grainy, with crisp crackery malt, seltzery notes and a touch of grassy hops. Flavour is crisper, with a gentle grassy hop bite, seltzery notes, and crackery malt. Seems under-hopped to me; there is a lack of bitterness and bite. But it's clean and drinkable. Okay.
