Opaque dark brown colour with a ruby hue, small frothy tan head, dissipates slowly, fair lacing. Aroma roasted malts, cocoa, coffee, dark fruits. Taste light heavy sweet, slightly bitter, roasted malts, milk chocolate, fruity, hint of liquorice, malt and coffee in the finish, light spicy notes. Medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation, well-balanced and tasty.

Creamy beige head stayed well on a dark brown still body. Big aroma of malt, dark spirits, demerara with a bitter backdrop. Creamy, smooth, medium bodied & a sharp back. Bitter tasting

Takeaway from The Rake when I was up in that London. A hazy aroma - dark berries and toasty. May have been my poor pour but this was a real gusher. Big bubbly beige head, eventually settles down. Dark and oily body. Heavy bitter. A tart edge to it. Sharp berries. Cough medicine. Medium bodied. Creamy. Fizzy carbonation. Long and dry astringent finish. Not sure on this one - do I enjoy the bitterness or not?

Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks Tom L. Dark brown. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, nuts, some roast, yeast. Sweetish flavor with some roast, caramel, nuts, some chocolate, a bit of dark fruits, and a bitterish finish with a bit of coffee. Medium-bodied.

Bottle thanks to Nihtila. Appearance - dark brown with red chinks. Decent fawn head. Nose - brown sugar and light chocolate. Nice wood note at the back. Taste - candied sugar, more chocolate and light burnt roast malt. Palate - medium bodied with a crunchy texture and a long dry roasty finish. Overall - good imp porter which peaks towards imp stout.

Bottle shared by Craftmember, cheers! Imperial porter from this Amsterdam beer company, apparently brewed in Belgium. Very slow gusher but nothing dramatic. Creamy, lightly lacing, egg-white head, very dark chestnut brown robe, blackish but still translucent under bright light, hazy. Aroma of coffee grounds, burnt wood, moist earth, cold black tea, dried fig, ’haemoglobin’ iron, dry leather, some caramel, moldy nut shells, parsley. Some dried fruits in the mouth but very low in sweetness, vague sourish hints and subtle umami, medium carbonation, nutty malt body with heavily toasted (’burnt’) bitterish effect , metallic touch but not feeling unnatural, dry with a herbal touch in the end as well as some vaguely coffeeish roasted bitterness. Looks like a brown porter more than an imperial porter and very clearly lacking in sweetness and creaminess to be a truly interesting imperial porter. More a simple brown porter at elevated alcohol volume. Not a bad beer as such, but in comparison with e.g. Molen’s Rasputin, this is not an imperial porter by style so I guess I expected (a lot) more from it.
