Draft/Fest. A- Sour, cocoa, roasty, malty. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Sour, green apples, cocoa, roasty. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, astringent finish. O- I should have known this would suck but it was about time I tried something from CIB. And yes, it sucked. Tasted like an infected beer that I would normally drain pour. Can’t believe people enjoy this and they try to make it taste like this. And the worst part was it still had room to be even worse.

Draft at Great Nebraska Beer Fest courtesy of HuskerTan, thanks! Clear dark brown color, almost flat. Aroma of sour coffee. Taste has a deep sourness that does not complement the roast. Unlike any porter I’ve ever had.

On tap at tap room in Carson, Iowa with Uncle Chris and Alex Carlton. It is my understanding that this is the younger, non-soured version of Morning Wood. Kind of murky brown appearance with a brown head. A little bit of coffe in the aroma along with light smoke and chocolate. Hint of acidity. Interesting play between chocolate and coffee again in the flavor. Not super interesting but a pretty easy drinker. Maybe a good starting point for those new to CIB that aren’t as into high boost sours.
