Danzig, which we named after a Baltic Sea town, isn’t for the faint of heart… or mouth. It’s a well-balanced, full-bodied blend of a strong English porter and a Germanic black lager, making it smooth with a sneaky high ABV. The intense mix of malts and hops provides flavors of chocolate, coffee, and caramelized sugar. No wonder it won Bronze at the World Beer Cup 2018. It’s full-on! Hence the lightning bolt on the pack.

Malts: Pilsner, Vienna, Dark Munich, Carafa II, CaraRed, Brown Malt, Chocolate Malt
Hops: Northern Brewer, Tettnang

Bottled. Deep brown black pour. Unapologetically chocolatey with some coffee. Nothing fancy but very good

12 oz bottle, poured dark reddish brown with tan foam that quickly faded to a ring. Medium to full bodied. Roasted malt and molasses aroma, Roasted malt and dark fruit taste upfront then chocolate and some licorice after that. Malty mildly boozy finish. Not close to top notch for this style, but ok.

Sample at Daily Growler UA. Dark brown color with a medium tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Small patches of lace. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and coffee. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, dark chocolate and a bit of anise. The finish is roasty with a chocolate malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

Sampled on draft at 3 Rivers this beer poured a black color with a large foamy brown head that left decent lacing. The aroma was malty, dryish, toasty and roasty with hints of chocolate and red wine. The flavor was bitter, dryish and roasty with cocoa, wood, cola and red wine. Medium length finish. Medium body. Disappointing.
