Gose is a rarely brewed regional specialty beer from Northern Germany. A slightly sour ale, it is known for its use of coriander and a unique saltiness that is derived from the local water source. Our first batch of Gose was brewed on a 7 bbl system with our friends at Odell Brewing Company. The recipe is the same now as it was then: a high percentage of malted wheat, acidulated malt to lower pH and impart a subtle sour character, with fresh ground coriander and crystal salt to finish the boil. As a twist on the original German brews, whole limes were pureed and added to the beer after fermentation. The result is a delightfully tart and most refreshing tipple, a perfect beer for a Texas celebration. Thank you to our friends in Colorado for sharing in this creation; thank you to our friends here at home for enjoying it with us after 18 years.

Can. Sour lemon-lime and wheat malt aroma. Hazy golden yellow with giant but short-lasting head. Sweet tart lime, light salt and wheat malt flavor. Light body. Tasty but lime tends to dominate.

Big thanks to Mora2000 for sending me a big box of Texas goodies. Pours light yellowish orange with big soapy head that dissipates amazingly fast. Nose is most lime with hint of salt. Tastes of lime, light salt, biscuits, wheat, orange soda, and coriander. Zingy palate. Certainly crush a sixes of this during summer but it’s just fine today on this cold fall day.

Refrigerated 12 oz. aluminum can, from blutt59, poured into a glass. Hazy pale golden with small white head which dissipates quickly. Aroma is lime, medium body, low carbonation, and no lacing. Taste is lime, some tart, hints of coriander. Pretty good, the lime works for me.

On tap at Petrol Station. Pours a cloudy orange with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is lime juice, salt, and prickly pear. Thin mouthfeel with nice light lime, salt, and nice light dryness. Easy to drink, great session beer.
