We are always so excited to work on new batches of this lovely little stout built to highlight and showcase single origins of coffee. For the past several batches, our dear buds from Mortalminds Coffee have come down to the brewery and cupped a variety of single origins of coffee mindfully roasted specifically to meld with this beer. For this batch, we all excitedly landed on coffee beans from Yemen roasted to a medium/dark level to drive some wonderfully complex layers of burnt sugar, cardamom, maple syrup, mocha overloaded baking spices, and that most smile inducing smell of freshly ground coffee in the morning. This rich and robust character shared in a modest and not-so-nap-driving ABV makes this such a lovely sip for the start of these.

Draft at brewery. Number one with a bullet. Earthy roasted malt aroma. Notes of dark coffee, chocolate and brown sugar. Flavor is more of the same. Dark sugar, dark coffee, roasted malt and vanilla. Smooth and approachable. Tasty.
