Oyster Stout

Dive beneath the surface, where dark roasted malts meet the whisper of the sea. Crafted with roasted malt and fresh oysters, this stout balances a smooth body, subtle salinity and deep cocoa tones. Bold flavour. Endless depth.

Two Towns Downs At Home Beers #3 of 6 (First Night). Last of the first evening of brews, and this black stout has an initial grittiness about it, but as the palate adjusts becomes a little more smooth in texture and taste. Never fully stated with its roastedness, there's nevertheless enough here to enjoy, coupled with a very lightly salted marine influence.

Can from Great Grog. Pours clear dark brown to black with a thick beige head. Aromas of roast coffee and a light saline note. Taste is coffee, smoke, liquorice and that saline note again. Roasted bitter finish. Lovely example of the style.

Can from Appellation Wines.
Appearance - deep brown to black with a big foamy beige to tan head.
Nose - roast and maybe a bit of saline.
Taste - roast, salt and smoke. But much more, though gnarly.
Palate - medium bodied, chewy middle and roasty finish.
Overall - good, if gnarly!
