Long Trail Ale® is a full-bodied amber ale brewed with our top fermenting house yeast that yields a clean, complex flavor.
Our flagship brew has weaved its way into the Vermont landscape and become as much a Green Mountain tradition as the 273 miles of the Long Trail itself. Plenty has changed since the first batch rolled off the line, but one thing remains constant, Long Trail Ale’s® presence at ski hills, cookouts and get-togethers all over the East Coast.

Pours reddish with a thick white head. Heavy aroma of malt. Taste of light wheat. Simple palate, light and crisp mouthfeel. Typical elements of a German wheat beer, very drinkable. Some spice on the palate, interesting taste to it.

Bottle: (labeled as 5.0 ABV, 28 IBU) Clear, dark amber with a thick, off-white head. Nutty, caramel aroma. Taste is roasted nuts, caramel malt. A pretty nice, toasty beer....rather enjoyable.

Bottle. Orange-amber, clear, low thick head. Malty, minerally, earthy nose. Somewhat faint, but authentic. Caramel. Medium rich malt flavor, some caramel and fruits, earthy, grassy hops, decent bitterness with clean, peppery finish. Decent alt, nothing special.

Bottle. Aroma is mix of malt, yeasty dough and resin. Appearance is clear medium brown (think root beer) with good sparkling and nice inch-thick foamy off white head with decent retention and good lacing. Taste is more sweet than bitter but a mix. Not terribly complex. Palate is light to medium bodied with average carbonation and moderate finish, mildly bitter. Overall, interesting smelling and above average appearance for a highly drinkable but fairly average tasting/mouth feel beer.

Pours an amber from a bottle. A caramelly nose and slight sweet malty flavor are kind of overshadowed by the thin, almost vinegary palate.
