Imperial Porter with Chocolate and Raspberries
Bid farewell to winter’s cruel tyranny with the creamy, bittersweet dark chocolate flavors and fresh raspberry tartness of Alberta Clipper Porter. Named for the intense winter storms that sweep the Midwest and Great Lakes Regions, making us all a little tougher (and a lot colder), Alberta Clipper is the perfect treat to celebrate the return of milder weather and kiss those wintry winds goodbye… at least for a little while.

A deep dark porter with a very thin brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with light grassy hops, light raspberry jam, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with raspberry jam, light grassy hops, light peated notes, very nice. On tap at Jose Pistola’s.

On tap at Jet Rock at PHL (after a connecting flight...I admit that all beers I have ever rated seem to get an extra +0.2 just for the fact that Jet Rock is the best non-tied-house craft beer bar in an airport). Also, the actual beer ratings by me are pretty lame.Deep brown with massive taupe head. Raspberry dominates nicely with slight roast and moderate bakers’ chocolate. The raspberry is a little overpowering, yet it works in this beer more than I normally think with fruit beers.

12 ounce bottle. Translucent brown color with a small tan head. Roasted malt nose is redolent of raspberry. Like a raspberry truffle. Soft and silky with fruity, cocoa notes. Very nice.

12 oz bottle. Pours extremely deep brown with a light tan head. Cocoa and raspberry aroma, appropriately, with touches of roasty coffee and vanilla. Chocolate and some raspberry flavor, not overly sweet. Very well done.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL, enjoyed at home while watching the Home Run Derby. Appearance is a dark cola brown with a thin off white head. Aroma of light chocolate and raspberries. Taste is pretty good, moderate carbonation, raspberry undertone, lightly rich, light chocolate. Good stuff.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run, 5/9/15. Clear dark brown, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of dark cherries and chocolate. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, cherries, hints of coffee. Medium bodied, creamy, low carbonation. Nice beer.
