Draft. Tasted like straigt ass, as do most Blue Point pieces of crap. THis was no exception. Avoid, for your sake.

Notes from 7/1/2008. Continuing my recent tradition of foregoing a traditional lunch in place of beer, I choose something often overlooked. Always consistent & always on standby, this one deserved to be rated by now. So let's take up some less then precious company time to pump one out. Wouldn't it be nice to have a stipend to go along with all this drinking? :) Two inches of Yoo-Hoo head filled with shrapnel wounds of all sizes. It condenses down to a quarter-inch of porridge that is very content to stay where it is. Black is brown, brown is black, it's... uncertain. It's a stout, get over it. :P My nose grabs up coco powder, flour, & skim milk. Not much else to say here. I taste mild coffee with plenty of lactose. Coco in the background, & with maybe a little almond notion in there. Things end with a lightly sugared, bitter copper finish(and a hankering for more). Suddy, but if anything, a little light on the carbonation. Just thick enough as to not accidentally swallow the whole lot in one gulp. :D Really simple, really good.

16 ounce can. Opaque dark brown color. Rocky tan head leads to cascading lace. Roasted malt aroma. Flavor follows nose. Sweet chocolate and coffee. A bit of dark sugar as well. Some creaminess on the palate. Roasted malt finish.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Cigarette City. Appearance is virtually opaque--very dark brown with reddish hues with light source directly behind--no discernible sparkle, finger-width light brown head with poor retention and trace lacing. Aroma is roasted malts with chocolate, caramel, oatmeal. Taste is moderately strong roasted malts, hint of chocolate, light sour. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin, creamy texture but is overly carbonated--lively--with finish that is as taste. Overall, a nice enough brew and, though the taste may be a little thin, what really dings it is the palate is all wrong for a stout.

Bottle. Dark brown color, medium cream colored head. Aroma of milk chocolate and brown sugar. Taste is a bit tart, which doesn’t seem to fit.

Thank you, Sarah.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a semi-dark brown close to black color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There’s some light lacing here and there in a messy sort of way.
The smell had some light grainy/oatiness in a really super sweet sort of way. Light cinnamon toasted bread was a fairly decent description of this one.
The taste was basically the same.
On the palate, this one sat right at about a medium on the body. Sessionabillity, uhh...somewhere there, it seemed kinda slick over my tongue.
Overall, for the most part, I honestly couldn’t tell you if this was a sweet stout or an oatmeal stout, was it good, sure was. I’d have it again.

On tap & House of Brews, NY. Clear almost black color with small creamy tan-like head and good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, cappuchino, chocolate and molasses. Tastes of sweet milk chocolate, caramel and white coffee, following is flaky and grainy, while finish is mild herbal bitter with warming aftertaste. Full body, creamy texture and average carbonation in palate. Pretty smooth and drinkable stout...

22 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear very dark brown color with a 1 finger fairly dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, caramel, oats, toast, light char, herbal, molasses, and dark fruitiness. Nice aromas with good strength and balance. Taste of oats, roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, coffee, light char, toast, bread, toffee, light citrus, and light herbal. Lingering notes of oats, roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, coffee, light char, and herbal on the finish for a bit. Nice balance and robustness of flavors; no cloying on the finish at all. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice oatmeal stout. Nice balance and robustness of flavors; very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Pint at Angels and Kings, NY ($6): Pours a very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of nuts, chocolate, and roasted malts. Very full flavored beer. Has some sweet notes in there, but this is not amongst the sweeter of the sweet stouts. The chocolate flavor in this beer is quite good, without being at all watery. I drank the whole thing when it was cold and it went down extraordinarily well. This is the kind of stout I can drink on a warm summer day.

Sampled on draft at the Rivertowne Pub this beer poured a black color with a trace beige head. The aroma was dryish and roasty with a touch of coffee. The flavor was dry, smoky and bitter with light floral hops and a touch of coffee and vanilla. The finish was long, dry, bitter and roasty. Fairly full bodied. Ok.
