Unfiltered and unfettered, Circus Boy is a unique and refreshing American-style Hefeweizen. Is he a who? Or a what? Or perhaps some of both? Be amazed by the flavorful haze of this wonderful wheat beer.

An hazed golden weizen with a thin creamy white head. Aroma of rosewater and herbs,. In mouth, the lemongrass comes out a lot, rather pleasant, reminiscent of Vietnamese grilled pork. Some light hopping gives this beer a longer mouthfeel. Overall, a bit too thin, but pleasant reinterpretation of the genre by MH. Bottle from CJs, Potsdam, Early winter 2006.

Nice yeast aroma with a tinge of lemon...ive had this beer fresh from the tap last year at the Atlantic City Beer Fest and the lemon scent was more apparent then the bottle....cloudy peachy apperance...very little lasting foam action ...very light and refreshing...a bit of lemon..little bits of clove...a nice brew, light with a slight watery palate..perfect for a summer day

Bottle. Orange/lemon, clove and wheat malt aroma. Cloudy orange-yellow color with medium head. Lightly sweet lemon wheat malt flavor. Given the editor’s note, I bumped this up - it’s a pretty nice herb beer but wouldn’t really fly compared to most hefes. / Re-rate 11-18-17 - not quite as cloudy - aroma and flavor seem the same but at this point knocking the points down a bit. Basic wheat ale.

AHH, all right! Another wheat beer I have not tasted. No kidding, wheat is one of my favorite styles! Also, I really took to the magic hat #9 I had on tap. Oh no! I see this is rated as a veggie spice beer, things are getting worse. It says unfiltered and unfettered with a closed curtain on the front, how quaint! Has an interesting sour aroma once I pop the top off of the brown 12 oz bottle. Oh yea, don’t you just love the pour of an unfiltered beer, especially a hefe? Swirling mysterious clouds in the vague unsettled brew. This one is not white, it is kind of sweet apple cider colored, orangish light brownish tan. There is this coating of sludge in the bottom of the bottle. Lemon grass? Burlington VT? Rouse gently? These things listed on the label are all mysteries to me. Flavor is definitely hefelike but not in the manner of a whitbeir. Yes this is more like an american wheat, and I think it is more like an american wheat than many other american hefes on this site. This is one of the better spice/herb/veggy beers I’ve drank. The name magic hat deserves some accommodations. Finish is a little bitter surprisingly but it is neither offensive nor lasting, its gone after a few moments. Would buy again, can appreciated this brew.

Tasted pretty much like a wheat beer, but retrospectively, I certainly do notice the additional taste of lemograss. I couldn’t quite put my finger on what made this beer different until now. Fortunately, I got it really, really cheap so it gets plus points for that. A nice light bodied beer with a strange little taste that all Magic Hat beers have. They certainly don’t make the best beer, but at least they try to be different.

Bottled (rated Sept 2006). Orange head, small head. Aroma is hoppy, leathery and slight caramellish. Flavour is fruity, hoppy and grassy with notes of cooked vegetables. Smooth, but quite watery. 6 3 6 3 12
Bottled (re-rated in 2007). Orange colour, small white head. Aroma is citrus, US hops and some slight hints of wheat. Flavour is US hops and acidic citrus fruits. The style could be something like American Hefeweizen (rather than German Hefeweizen as the bottle claims). 6 3 6 3 12

[Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival] Cloudy golden. Some spicy mustard and yeast character. Sweetish with clean mouthfeel. Notes of coriander, lemon grass and oranges. Has a very American feel to it.
