Poured with a huge, fluffy, frothy head that settled after a bit. Aroma’s dark malt, cocoa, barest hint of smoke. Flavor’s where the whiskey really comes thru and in a nice way. Smoke’s only there in the barest way, not sure I’d even notice it if I hadn’t been told by the label. Great palate. Very nice finish.

Bottle at Drake 10k tasting. Very dark maroon color, clear, big beige head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of toasted brownies and burnt toast. Taste has burnt briwnies, but subtle burnt rubber as well.

Location: Bomber from Bruisin' Ales, 1/20/15
Aroma: The aroma has some whiskey, wood, dark/roasted malts, peat, and light smoke
Appearance: An opaque dark brown color with a thick, frothy brown head and mid-heavy lace
Flavor: The flavor is fairly complex. A good amount of dark malt sweetness and roast comes in following a smooth vanilla/boozy sweetness, leading into a lightly bitter, peat and roast finish
Palate: The body is medium (lighter for the style), extremely smooth, creamy, with a soft feel
Overall Impression: I am always surprised when I'm the very first rater of a bottled beer from a state I'm not from, but I'm happy to add rating #1 here. This is a pretty tasty beer. The mix of roasted and sweet malts flavors works really well. The subtle smoke add a nice component too. I liked this.
