Oatis - Vanilla

Very nice stuff. Black pour with great mocha head. Roast and lots of vanilla. Some chocolate and oatmeal. Bittersweet finish. Thick consistency. Good balance, and good beer all around. Tap at Glen’s.

Draft. Opaque brown color, tan head. Aroma of brownies with vanilla sauce. Taste has rich vanilla, cocoa, coffee. Tasty.

Pour is a near black with a huge tan head. Aroma is a nice oatmeal toastyness with a also nicely done hop in the backround. Flavor is an equally nice roasted malt with some sweetness with some coffee and then comes a bit of the vanilla. Not over the top with the vanilla its more here’s some toasted oatmeal and we added a bit of vanilla in there to make it different. Pretty solid beer here just don’t go looking for a vanilla bomb.

This brew pours a brownish-black color with a medium khaki head that diminishes steadily to a film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, vanilla and chocolate. Medium-bodied with flavors of roasted malt, espresso and vanilla. Touches of hops in the background. The finish is vanilla coffee and chocolate malt. Above average overall.

Dark brown. Vanilla, sweet light chocolate. Sweet, thick chocolate, lots of vanilla but that sweetness clashes with the bitterness, of which there also is in the finish.

Pours black with a medium sized tan head, lots of lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, roast coffee and mild vanilla. Creamy mouthfeel, roasted malts, ashy, grains, roast coffee, chocolate and some vanilla to mellow out the bitterness in the finish
Nice, easy drinking and well balanced.

Finally getting to try this by Ninkasi. Its about time.This was from my haul back from Anchorage.

The appearance was a nice looking dark brown color with a thin white to off white slightly foamy head As the head dissipated, a nice settling lacing weaves it’s way around the glass.
The smell was basically oatis with a light creamy vanilla coming through as it warmed. Nice, I liked it.
The taste was pretty much the same as the smell with a sticky sort of creamy vanilla aftertaste that lead to a dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a mostly sipping quality to it. The carbonation is mainly subdued but that’s okay as I believe the oats part complements the bulk of the body. It rolls nice and creamy over my tongue.
Overall, this was a really nice sweet stout I’m so glad I finally got to try. I would have this again.

22oz bomber, from a 4 bomber 4 pack, pours with a nice deep dark mahogany body that supports a thin mocha head. The aroma offers up malty sweet dark roasted malts and then modest sweet vanilla,  chocolate, brownie, a dash of molasses and booze. The taste is sweet with malts, some molasses, malt sweetened chocolate and then thin ribbons of dark roasted to burnt malts. Behind those notes murmurs a modest degree of smooth sweet vanilla. Solid brew that is a bit on the sweet side.

Bottle @ booze cruise. Deep brown appearance with a dark brown head. Roasted dark chocolate, cocoa, light coffee, bacillus, sweet aroma. A bit thick mouth flavor. Nice flavor. Lots of dark chocolate, vanilla bean, and coffee. A bit sweet but drinks pretty good.
