Damnit, we’re going out on a limb here, but Saisons are the absolute cat’s pajamas. The style that really first introduced us to the possibilities of beer beyond bland macro lagers, we’ll always back up this often overlooked style that gets unfairly muscled out of the conversation in favour of purported sexier, more hype-driven styles.
Noting that we hadn’t visited this Belgian classic for almost five years, and with the bargaining chip of our fantastic new taproom Polly’s Social to bring more than just Pale and Hoppy to the tap lineup, we’ve revived our Saison game with a fruited flourish as inspired by the masters that so often blow it out of the water, The Kernel.
Simplicity is key here, and this is an unfussy pale malt and wheat grist bill, with no added hops, but a tonne of funky farmhouse flavours imparted from the Saison yeast we’ve utilised to ferment out with. A flourish of bright blackcurrants finishes this beer off that is a nod to the classics, with a toe in the door of modern experimentation.

3/1/2026. Can at Polly’s Kesgrave beer share, courtesy of ITFCfan. Pours hazy dark pink with a small pale pink head. Aroma is blackcurrant, hedgerow, berry, slightly salty. Moderate tartness and body. Nice tart finish.
