The Tocobaga people lived off the bounty of Tampa Bay hundreds of years before the arrival of the Spanish in the 1500’s. They were potters, tool makers and the only Florida natives to grow maize. These original Tampanians are celebrated with Tocobaga Red IPA, an assertive but balanced ale that marries the pine and citrus qualities of Citra hops with an assertive bitterness from Summit hops and malt flavors of caramel and bread crust.

Can. Reddish gold in color with a two finger head. A tad more malty than most IPAs.

Tap at Brody’s American Taproom, Den Haag. Poured a hazy medium amber colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is big toffee caramel malt, woody hop. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a smooth, rich, biscuit malt, toffee, light fruity, hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Can from Total Wine. Copper in colour, with a thin, off-white, head. Aroma of citrus hops and ripe red berries. Flavour had tangerines and strawberries, sweetish, slightly bready malts, before a lingering, dryish, finish. Good.

[12oz can from Total Wines, Naples, Fl.] A hazy chesnut coloured pour with a loose white head and lots of lacing on the glass; aroma of caramel and pine; resinous, almost oily in the mouth, with a spicy bitterness and some caramel and malt; then a dry earthy finish. Rather good.
