I can’t believe I never rated this or my rating was lost at some point. Here I sit in Epcot Biergarten restaurant drinking a 1/2 liter draft: Poured a deep chestnut brown with some dark orange edges, head was creamy beige. Aroma is rich malt, earth, dark fruits, light metallic. Taste is rich roasted malts, richness brings out an almost chocolate flavor, dark fruits, simple but complex in its own way.

Can from a mixed case from Costco.
Pours clear dark mahogany with a medium sized beige head, light lacing. Toasted malts, caramel, nutty, coffee.
Good

Brown pour and beige head. Nose is chocolate and bready. Tastes of pumpernickel, chocolate light licorice, cloves. Creamy palate.

Bottle. Have had much better dunkels. Taste was roasted but too watery, Aroma was just slightly too skunky. Nice brown color, some head. Just middle of the road.

500 ml can
caramel malty nose. good brown pour, wattery body, and mouthfeel, slightly hoppy, but quite malt flavour, meh, run of the mill dark lager, i was really let down when i saw hop extract in the ingredients list.

Pour from the tap at an interesting German bar and restaurant in Fredericksburg, TX. Serves up very dark, almost completely black and the bartender put a sizeable head of very light tan foam on top. The drink started all right, full of grain and a bit of licorice, but then later some ash turned up as the brew warmed and that squelches my consuming mass quantities.

On a flight at the Rock-In Bar (inside Whole Foods, Laguna Niguel) on 26th June 2024. Never knowingly seen this in Europe and I try and go to Germany once every two years or so. Anyway I am pleased to have found it here in California. Clean and clear dark amber with a slight red hue, off-white crown. Semi-sweet malty front which carries on throughout, it's an easy drinking Dunkel.
