India Pale Ale is not a beer for "cowards". Ιt is a beer for those that enjoy "big" beers with intense hoppiness and even more intense taste. The hops' aromas in this beer spread their good vibes unstoppably ! Ιt's no wonder , that among all beer styles, IPA is one of the most popular beers on earth. Solo IPA takes its name from the addictive hoppiness that characterizes an India pale ale. Psaki in the cretan dialect means something extremely bitter.

1/II/17 - 33cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte) @ Klaas' place - BB: 5/IV/17, bottled: 5/VII/16 (2017-100) Thanks to Klaas for sharing the bottle!
Clear orange to amber beer, big solid creamy beige yellow head, very stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: floral, very soapy, artificial fruit flavourings, bit sweet, cookies, almonds. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty soapy, pretty bitter, fruity touch, peach and some grapefruit. Aftertaste: very bitter, bit medicinal, dry, malty, soapy, floral, some pineapple. Clearly this has had it's best time already.

Light haze on this amber beer, good cream colour head. Light dry malts, mildly sweet. Slightly woody hops, orange peel, good bitterness. Trace of fresh orange. Light dry finish. Not bad, maybe getting on a bit.

[Draft full glass @ Gollem] Lightly hazy darker orange, big creamy white head. Nose is lightly soapy, orange peel hop, sweetish sugar, low yoghurt yeast. Taste is hugely grainy & very crudely bitter, huge bitter grains, very bitter medicinal orange peel with no fruity qualities, quinine, crudely raw bitter herbal, lightly cheese with a slight cardboard finish. Far too crudely bitter & raw, almost bitter vegetables. Body is all grainy bitter herbal grains. This will largely appeal to a specific breed of hop head. Not all bad but too much for me for sure.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from Beergium. Pours mostly clear copper-gold with a dense, creamy topping. Lightly toasted crackery malts in the nose, some jammy citrus, orange peel. Medium sweet flavour with moderate piney bitterness, grainy bread, citrus rind, more crackers. Medium bodied, lightly chewy, with fine to average carbonation. Resinous and oily in the finish, with piney and grassy bitterness, more bready malts, ripening citrus fruits, more orange rind. Not bad overall all. It’s a bit of an old-school take on the style.
