Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass at the brewpub.
The appearance was a decent looking hazed over brown color with light orange tints to it. There was a light lacing that came down from a one finger white foamy head once it died down.
The smell had a mild burnt caramel maltiness to it to lead to that typical soapiness from a Bitter, but actually, its quite subdued than most Bitters I’ve had.
The taste was mildly creamy sweet. Instead of the hops showing any kind of flavoring, it seemed like the malts were roasted enough to provide a slight bready to toasty effect.
On the palate, this one sat at a light on the body with a pretty decent sessionability about it, if I wanted to have this again. The carbonation was there but subdued for the most part.
Overall, it was not a bad Bitter. It wasn’t a bad beer to me, but not really a real Bitter.
