Doubt is always lurking around the corner. We get that at Duivelsbier. Our beer embodies absolute exuberance, perfectly pairing with those moments when you do choose to take the plunge. Upstream, perhaps even against one’s better judgment? Who’s to say? But on occasion, you are granted a free pass. Some might think that’s kind of diabolical, yet above all, it’s what makes us human.

Shit off white head left a frothy cover on a rich dark chestnut coloured still body. Malt, caramel & toffee aroma. Medium bodied, overly carbonated with a lighter clean back. Bitter berry, malt, brown sugar & raisin tastes. Lacking in all parts.

0.33 l bottle from 'Speciaalbierpakket.nl', bottled in February 2019. Clear, dark brownish red with a medium large, dense, stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently yeasty-spicy and slightly fruity aroma of caramel, raisins, figs, some overripe banana and traces of clove. Gently sweet, malty, moderately bitter, rather yeasty-spicy and slightly fruity taste of caramel, overripe banana, raisins, figs and a touch of clove, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, quite yeasty-spicy finish. Medium body, rather effervescent mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Pleasant BSA, classic and well-executed.

Dark brown color. Vinegar and mustard aroma. Sweetish with a hint of vinegar, grapes, brandy and mustard. Cherry, dusty, oak and some alcohol. Very complex flavor, but a disappointing aroma. (5 3 7 3 13) Re-rate: from tap, Café Locus Publicus Delft. Blackberries and soap in the aroma. Blackberry flavor with laurel, some earthy hoppiness and a touch of licorice. Sweetish with a slight touch of lactic acid. Excellent aftertaste in wich laurel dominates.

Flesje thuis gedronken. Koperkleurig helder bier met matig schuim. Aroma van gist en mout. Smaak van gebrande mout, karamel en rietsuiker. Nasmaak is licht hoppig.

Fles thuis geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is een roodbruin bier met een volle schuimkraag. Het heeft een wat zoete karamelsmaak.

At Cambrinus, Bruges. Shared with Anke.
Pours hazy brown with a lasting, small, off-white head. The aroma contains (roasted) malt, candi sugar (as expected), yeast, spices (clove), some iron. It tastes medium caramel-like sweet and light to medium spicy bitter; dry, hoppy, yeasty finish with a punch of alcohol. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Cliché, but nevertheless a good beer.
