Doubt is always lurking around the corner. We get that at Duivelsbier. Our beer embodies absolute exuberance, perfectly pairing with those moments when you do choose to take the plunge. Upstream, perhaps even against one’s better judgment? Who’s to say? But on occasion, you are granted a free pass. Some might think that’s kind of diabolical, yet above all, it’s what makes us human.

Cloudy amber brown colour, large frothy beige head, diminishing slowly, almost no lacing. Aroma is malty, caramel, dark dries fruits, candy sugar, bit tart, light chocolate. Taste is light heavy sweet, slightly sourish, malty, fruity. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, aftertaste is sweet, light sour, some subdued bitterness, dark fruit and chocolate notes. Overall a pleasant strong brown ale.

330ml bottle thanks to Jefverstraete. Pours a deep brown. Nice sweet malt aroma. Taste is a nice, sweet, soft brune with a big hint of sticky liquorice. Delish.

Bottle at Rootz at the Harbour, Scheveningen. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin broken white head. The aroma is sweet malt, red berry fruit, some yeast. The flavour is moderate sweet light bitter with a crisp rich malt, cherry fruit palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A real sweetie and I’m sweet enough already!
