Reviewed from old notes.
This was on tap at their brewpub.
In a pint glass, this had a semi-dark hazy red color with a bar pour’s kind of slim white head that dissipated immediately and left no lacing.
The smell had an English sort of hoppiness (fuggles, I guess) over top of a clean crisp caramel malt, light toffee and a super light nuttiness as the beer warms.
The taste was semi-sweet with an English dose of hops, balances nicely.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionabilty about it. The carbonation seemed okay for the style and for me. A nice harshness as an IPA showed its face and still at the same time allowed a fairly decent toffee smoothness over my tongue.
Overall, good IPA by a brewery that I remember some fond Autumn days back in Maine.
