Reviewed from old notes.
On tap at their brew pub.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a slightly cloudy yellow but still had a semi-clear transparency about it. Was that carbonation I see rising? Hmmm...Well, okay, there’s about a one and a half fingered white foamy head (good bar pour, props to the bartender).
The smell had some light yeastiness with a light lemon-ness to it.
The taste took the yeastiness and the lemon to combine nicely and slightly refreshing. However, I didn’t get an expectant wheat kick. There’s a slight grainy aftertaste with a dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was okay for the style and for me.
Overall, there were some things I thought were a bit different than most hefeweizens I’ve had. I’m not sure if they were intended or flaws so with that in mind, for me this wasn’t bad, it wasn’t exactly a hefeweizen done to true German standards. Honestly, it was just an okay beer.
