On the bottle reads \"batch #034, 10/01/2015.\"
This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was subtle hazy burnt orange close to a ruddy brown color with a light transparency about it. A nice level eggshell white foamy slim coat of a head maintains its worth for a good minute before gently dissipating. Foamy lacing graces the glass nicely.
The smell starts off with a sharp sweet to toasty crisp rye spice leading into some sweet breadiness and allowing some citrus and grassy hops to slyly move in underneath. Some light black pepper slides in underneath.
The taste was a nice blend of sweet to spicy goodness leading into a dry semi-sweet sticky aftertaste and finishes crisp and dry.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light and smooth to allow the rye bitterness along with the citrus combine sharpen and hit my tongue pretty nicely.
Overall, this was a pretty good AIPA. Good job Frost for pulling off a nice example of a seasonal rye IPA. Though it’s fairly dry, I’d still have it again.
