Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a bronzed hazy amber color with a lasting finger’s worth of white foamy head.
The smell had some mild earthy to dirty spice up front. Dry grassiness. Burnt toast with a bland cooked melon aroma slides in underneath.
The flavor takes in the previously mentioned flavors to blend in a dirty manner. Dirty earthy aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body. Dirtiness spikes the sessionable quality out the window.
Overall, not a very clean version of an English pale ale and definitely lives up to its name. Can’t see myself coming back to this. But I hear rumors that this brewery is closing.
