Poured into a pilsner glass, the appearance was a mostly black color with a thick three fingers worth of white foamy head that dissipated ever so slightly. Sly semi-thick sticky lace.
The aroma had a semi-sweet bready lush lager yeastiness. Tame milk chocolate with some dark chocolate nipping at the end.
The flavor seems to blend slightly. Lager yeastiness seems fairly low. Somewhat sweet, somewhat bready dark and milk chocolate, but simple and clean. Sly roasty to smooth breadiness streams into the aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Crisp smooth sweetness glides along my tongue.
Overall, nicely done schwarzbier and probably one of the best ones done by a Vermont brewer. I would definitely have this again.
