Poured into a mug, the appearance was a fairly dark brown color close to black with a sustaining white foamy head that must have lasted a good minute before gently falling into the beer. Sly dampened lace runs into the beer.
The aroma had a nice blend between chocolate malts to dark roasted coffee beans.
The flavor yields to the roasty side in a rugged sort of way. Some smoke amplifies the dark roasted coffee beans and seems to blend into the aftertaste and move into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Good carbonation. ABV felt appropriate. Acceptable ruggedness along my tongue.
Overall, nicely done stout that I would have again.
