Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a ruddy burnt amber color with a sly transparency about it. Light carbonation could be seen rising at a good pace to fill a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a moderate pace. Slight lace.
The aroma captured some bready/wheaty malts, light cereal grains, some citrusy hops, just a touch of milk chocolate, then ginger and allspice. Light earthy/leatheriness comes in. Then just a touch of hay.
The flavor copied the aroma for the most part leaving out the hay a bit; mainly sweet with some clean intentional butterscotch. Light basement funkiness. The aftertaste seems to blend the spices to the malts fairly nice.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionable trait to it. Moderate carbonation escapes at a decent pace along my tongue. Some guided spicy harshness vacates nicely to allow a semi-smooth texture on my tongue.
Overall, fairly nice Belgian styled winter warmer worthy of having again.
