Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8

Poured into a mug.
The appearance was a semi-dark brown close to black color with a finger’s worth of eggshell white foamy head that fell off at a moderate pace. Sly lace.
The aroma had some roasted coffee beans, light dark chocolate, light black pepper, some earthy hops - somewhat bitter. Light herbal tones.
The flavor seemed to lean towards the roast initially, some black pepper comes in. Earthiness came back to hit subtly. Some dry woodiness. Left a dry woody to earthy tone in the aftertaste to ride in the finish.
The feel was about medium bodied. Earthy spice along with the black pepper created a touch of harshness along my tongue, but wasn’t too distracting. Roastiness had some ruggedness here, but once again, it wasn’t too abrasive.
Overall, Brocklebank keeping things real yet taking us back to an old school recipe. I never had a porter like this before. And I’m pretty sure I’d like to have this again.
