Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a quickly dieing finger’s worth of white foamy head that slid into the beer. Lace was the same sliding sort of thing going on.
The aroma centered around some Belgian sugars, light banana, some Belgian chocolate, light spice (cloves?, maybe somewhat), earthiness, slight herbal tones, light leaves, and had some breadiness at the end.
The flavor was lenient towards the sweet side and then opened up into the blend of the sweet to the spice. Aftertaste roamed between the two gently. Finish had the banana along with the Belgian chocolate.
The feel was just a tad under medium in body with a good sipping sort of quality about it. Spice harshness was tame enough to not distract. ABV felt good.
Overall, they say it’s their take on a Belgian style, but part of me wanted to say, this may be closer to a true Belgian. Not sure, but I did like this one.
